There are many ways you can use this Incense. It's perfect to burn when feeling blue or melancholy. Oshun is associated with the joy of living and this particular Incense is known to lift one’s mood. One powerful technique is to gather 5 sunflowers, place them in a vase with fresh water and a touch of honey and burn a bit of Oshun incense near this in her honor. Then, place the flowers in the center of your home. Burn while taking a spiritual bath or simply burn some on your altar. Oshun loves oranges and honey, so if you are petitioning her, remember to leave these out as an offering. You may also burn some by your front door to draw in her energy.
If you would like to perform a divination spell, get a tray and fill it with water and honey. Take five yellow flowers and place them in the tray. Next, write down your petition on a piece of brown paper bag. Fold it towards you and place it in the center of the tray. Get a yellow 7-day glass-encased candle. Place this on top of your petition. Light your incense and say a prayer. Burn the candle for 5 days only. Remember to ask Oshun for her help and thank her every day while performing the ritual. When the ritual is complete, bring the flowers, petition, and some fresh honey and “feed” it to Oshun in a running river or stream.
Oshun Incense is meant to be burned on charcoal. It is not self-igniting. You will need charcoal discs and a fire-safe container to use, as the charcoal gets very hot! You light your charcoal, set it in the fire-safe container using tongs, and allow it to burn a few minutes until the top turns a greyish color. Only then will it be hot enough to burn your incense. When the charcoal is ready, sprinkle some of the incense on top of it, making sure not to add so much that it suffocates or smothers the charcoal.
