Full Moon Rituals for the Next Full Moon

From werewolf myths to harvest celebrations, the full moon has captivated us with her timeless beauty and power. For those of you who practice magic, using the energy of the moon can be a powerful way to manifest your intentions. Full moon rituals and rituals can help supercharge your magic spells. During the three days before and after a full moon, the moon’s energy is at its peak, making it the perfect time to perform your spells.

A full moon ritual is one of the more common moon rituals performed for manifestation. During this period, practitioners can focus their energy and bring their goals and desire to fruition.  Whether you seek love, abundance, or spiritual growth, a full moon ritual can empower the energy you're putting out, making it the perfect time to work on your intentions for drawing in and manifesting the things you want.

The Full Moon Ritual To Create Your Own Moon Magic Oil

One popular and easy full moon ritual is to create some Moon Magic Oil. This is one of the easier approaches to harnessing the power of the moon. It is simply done by leaving a container of carrier oil mixed with moon-related herbs outside under the light of a full moon. The moon oil absorbs the moon's energy, making it a powerful tool for attraction and manifestation magic. Moon Magic Oil can be used to anoint sacred objects, dabbed in the bath, or rubbed onto talismans, amulets, and candles. Dab some onto important documents, or place a drop or two on a charcoal disc and burn it as incense.

To create your own Full Moon Ritual Oil, you will need the following items:

  • 1/4 cup of olive or almond oil
  • A small container
  • Some sage, lavender, lemonbalm and mugwort

Place your oil in a container, and then add your herbs. Leave them outside under the full moon for 24 hours. After this period, you can then use your oil for manifestation work. Just make sure that when you perform your spell or ritual, it’s during a new moon or full moon.

Waning Moon Ritual: A Moon Ritual Bath for Banishing & Cleansing

Another way a moon ritual can be used is for releasing negative energy and letting go of things that no longer serve you. This can include anything from negative thoughts and behavior patterns to toxic relationships or old habits. A waning moon can help you detach from the things and people you wish to move on from. Waning rituals are to used to banish and purify, and in this regard, a moon ritual bath is a perfect way to cleanse away negative energy and let go of situations that you no longer wish to have in your life.

For a waning moon ritual bath, you will need the following items:

  • Sage, basil, and nettle
  • A pot with 2 cups of water
  • A pen and paper
  • A small white candle
  • To be performed three days after of Full Moon.

Three days after a full moon, add your herbs to a pot with two cups of water. Simmer them over a low flame for 15 minutes. Allow the water to completely cool, and remove the herbs. Then, get your pen and paper and write out exactly what you wish to banish or remove from your life. Run a warm bath and light a white candle. Add your two cups of herbal water directly into the bath. When ready, immerse yourself in the bath. Focus on all the things you wish to discard in your life. Imagine the water cleansing you of the things you wish to release. When the bath is complete, take your paper (list of things you want to banish) and burn it in the candle flame. Then, take the remaining ashes from your paper, walk outside, and blow the ashes away from you. You also want to make sure you blow the ashes away from your home. This is a symbolic act that can help you release negative energy to create a space that can help you invite new things in.

Full Moon Ritual for Spiritual Awareness & Psychic Intuition

In addition to manifestation and release rituals, the full moon is also a time for divination work and to broaden your spiritual insight. A full moon can help you connect to your intuition and higher self. This is particularly useful for divination. Tarot readings, rune casting, and scrying are all examples of divination practices that can be performed with full moon energy.

What you need:

  • 2 Blue Chime Candle
  • Appropriate Candle Holders
  • A small Mirror or Bowl of Water
  • Moon Magic Oil or Psychic Intuition Oil
  • To be performed on a Full Moon
  • Moon Magic Ritual Kit  (optional)

If using a small bowl of water, add 15 drops of oil to the bowl of water. Place your two candles on each side of the bowl of water. When ready, light your blue chime candle. If you are using a small mirror, then place a candle on each side of the mirror. Anoint your oil on your temples and third eye (between your eyebrows). You may also place a few drops on the bottom of your feet.

While peering into either the mirror or bowl of water, allow your mind to focus on a source of light. Allow the light to fill your mind, and begin to let go of your thoughts. Although this can be difficult, it gets much easier with practice. As a new thought comes into your mind, let it go and re-focus on your source of light. When you feel a slight shift of consciousness, sometimes this is simply a calm or centered feeling; allow the images to filter back into your mind. Sometimes it is a thought, a picture, a word, or just a feeling. As this begins to filter through, give it permission to "give you its message." After this is complete or you feel a sense of understanding, return to the light source on which you have been focusing. You may repeat the process or simply begin to focus on the room's surroundings to bring you out.

When performing a full moon ritual, it’s always important to approach it with care and intention. Take the time to prepare yourself and your space before starting your ritual. Make sure to cleanse your space with sage or other herbs and take some deep breaths to ground yourself in the present moment. Give yourself enough time to become fully present. Try and let go of any negative thoughts. Remember to always draw on the moon's energy and visualize it filling you with its power and strength.
